The LG G4 Is Still A Ways Off, But You Can Speculate All You Like.

The LG G3 was one of 2014’s most well received flagship devices. With its laser auto focus, beautiful 5.5″ QHD display and sleek metal finish, it harvested a respectable following. MWC 2015 is only days away, and many thought the Korean Manufacturer would take the Android ecosystem by storm and release its much anticipated LG G4. Well today LG is breaking the hearts of millions. For shame!

As stated by a Korean publication, LG will be ditching MWC this year and spend a bit more time polishing the device, presumably working on the design, squashing bugs, and doing what it does best. Innovate. We forget that LG coined “Knock, Knock” or Double Tap To Wake, not to mention it’s rear volume rocker/power button configuration (We all see what you did there Asus Zenfone 2)

But the rumor mill still churns, and we Android enthusiasts will not be held back.

Let’s talk hardware. LG’s previous flagship came packaged with a 5.5″ QHD display. It’s safe to say its successor will bear the same dimensions and resolution. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Although, I would like to see LG switch from an HD IPS LCD display to amoled technology. An amoled display tends to produce darker blacks and richer hues. At 538 PPI it will remain as sharp as the G3 is today only with more accurate color representation. It’s better on the eyes. And for the love of heaven no curved displays or “edge” gimmicks. Did I say gimmicks? I meant innovations.

Under the hood we are likely to see a Snapdragon 810 paired with an Adreno 430 and 3gb of RAM, possibly four. And no, 4 gigs of ram in a smart device is not excessive at all. I rest my tongue in my cheek and grin sheepishly.

Along the back of the device will surely be it’s power, volume and camera setup. As far as megapixels and snappers go, expect to see a lens anywhere between 16 and 20 megapixels with OIS, dual tone LED, laser auto focus and 4k recording (supported by the Snapdragon 810) and who knows what else. LG never disappoints, not with it’s flagship’s anyways…

Majority of Flagship devices this year will ship with similar specs. What’s going to set them apart from one another is innovation, battery life, build quality and the sometimes cumbersome interface manufacturer’s decide to place over top of Android’s proprietary OS. Although, LG has improved drastically in this respect. High five, LG.

In my opinion LG is going to release another big hitter, over taking Samsung by far and running neck and neck with HTC’s M9. A final thought, though. Do you think it’s possible LG has gained a loyal enough following to convince consumers to hold off until presumably May to grab a G4? Any other questions comments or concerns?
