HTC M9 Specs List and Photo Leak

It’s that time of year again. Flagship season. With MWC right around the corner, the likes of HTC, LG, Sony and Samsung are shortly to release the next iterations of their big hitters, and the rumor mill is spinning at record speeds.

What we’ve got today are a couple of HTC M9 leaked photos and a specs list. These are the clearest photo’s to date and provide a very clear glimpse of what to expect from the Taiwanese manufacturer.

By looking at the photo it’s obvious HTC has chosen to recycle it’s previous design scheme with it’s new flagship, and why not? Both the “M7” and “M8” were praised by critics and end users alike for their superior build quality. ( News has surfaced that HTC was using dummy m8 replicas to portray the M9. The new design is said to resemble a design we’ve recently seen on the HTC Desire 826) With that said, it seems HTC took some constructive criticism to heart and thus have made a few notable changes to the over all design. As you can see, the power button has been moved from the top left of the device to the lower right side, and the volume rockers have been lowered. If you’ve ever held an HTC M8 you’ll know that it is an unusually tall and slender device. Reaching with one hand to the very top was an arduous and even risky feat as the beautiful aluminum body was dangerously slick. The front facing camera still resides on the top right but will feature HTC’s UltraPixel technology for better selfies. We can also see the bezels have been slimmed down. I mean, who doesn’t like a little extra display real estate? If I had nickel for every time I’ve seen someone complain about thick bezels I’d have a ****load of nickels. Well played HTC. Well played. Unfortunately, though, at the bottom of the display still remains, in it’s entirety, a large black bar depicting the HTC logo. Brand recognition is a bitch.

First and foremost you will notice no trace of the M8’s duo camera. That’s right. It seems that HTC has done away with not only it’s back facing ultra pixel setup but it’s duo camera as well. This isn’t to say that a “Max” model of the M9 won’t feature a duo camera. Time will tell. There still rests a dual led configuration to the right of the back snapper.

As usual, trendy black lines carve the surface of the device’s aluminum chassis. Pretty sharp, eh? But of course, after it’s official release we can expect to see some heavy carrier branding near the bottom of the device *cough* Verizon *cough*.

The HTC M9 is purported to ship with the listed specs and hardware below.

Snapdragon 810 chipset (64 bit) with Adreno 430 GPU
3GB of RAM
5-inch 1080p display (441 pixel density)
2,840mAh battery
Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7.0
20.7 megapixel camera on the rear,
4 UltraPixel camera on the front

Overall the HTC M9 is shaping up to be a worthy successor to one of 2014’s most well received flagships, making a few well thought out and considerate changes to accommodate the user and stepping up it’s specs to 2015 standards.
